KINGSTON, R.I. - Kelly Ann Scully often forgets when homework is due but likes to describe herself as a well organized person. That is what makes this journalism student different from everyone else.

“I am very organized when it comes to my clothes,” she said, adding, “my entire closet is color coordinated.”

Although her closet may be in order Kelly often forgets when assignments are due and what the test is covering, or when the test is. Even with a bad memory she still does just fine in school while balancing it with work and her social life.

Kelly is a junior here at URI and double majors in journalism and political science, two fields that are for on-time and organized individuals. She works at the office of Durkin Cottages in Narragansett where she answers the phone, tours rental homes, and draws up rental leases. Kelly loves the job because the hours and money are good, but those are not the only reasons.

“I think it is a good experience because I interact with a variety of people,” she said. “I also know how to run credit, check references, and draw up rental leases.”

Through working and going to school Kelly sees herself as very independent and has no problem looking towards the future and going into the real world on her own.

“I think I am very different from everyone else because of my independence and because I am very adaptable in social settings,” she said.

After school she plans moving to a city and pursuing a job in either law or broadcast journalism. She also hopes to get married and have children, and hopefully a few dogs.

It would seem when Kelly is asking you what is on the test 25 minutes before it starts that she really has no clue what's going on. Learn a little more about her and you will see that behind this unorganized, confused girl is actually a smart, independent, and .... organized young woman.
